Lady
Paladin Tennis Club
The
Lady Paladin Tennis Club was created in 1987 as the booster club for Furman
University women's tennis program. The need for the club became apparent to
Coach Debbie Southern in order for her teams to travel outside of the southeast
region and play a more national schedule. The club consists of many local
tennis enthusiasts, parents of the program, alumni, corporate sponsors, and
special friends of Furman Tennis.
The
monies raised from memberships are used to enhance the opportunities of the
program. For instance, a spring break trip each year for the team is funded
by the booster club and allows student-athletes an attractive trip which helps
with the recruiting process. In return, the members are notified of special
team events and home match schedules.
"Our
booster club has been a godsend to our tennis program. We have been afforded
many more opportunities through the generosity of our membership," says
coach Debbie Southern. "Attendance at our home matches has increased
as well through the awareness of our program in the Greenville community."
