Furman has rescheduled Wednesday's softball doubleheader against USC Upstate for April 23, at 3 p.m. due to the threat of rain and thunderstorms in the Greenville area this afternoon, it was announced by Paladin head coach Dana Jenkins.
Furman, 10-11 on the season, will return to action Friday when it opens Southern Conference play hosting Georgia Southern in a 1 p.m. doubleheader at Pepsi Stadium. The Paladins and Eagles, who have faced each other in the SoCon Finals in each of the past two years, will conclude their three-game series with a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday.
Furman is coming off of a 4-2 week that included a 3-1 performance at the Winthrop/adidas Invitational. Paladin centerfielder Meredith Mielke garnered SoCon Player-of-the-Week honors after posting two home runs and six RBI in Furman's victory over Gardner-Webb. Sophomore Lana Mackey earned SoCon Pitcher-of-the-Week honors compiling a 1.75 ERA and notching three victories in the circle.
