Brienna Heinzler and Elizabeth Wendt have signed national letters-of-intent to join the Furman women's golf program in the fall of 2008, it was announced this week by head coach Jen Hanna.
Heinzler, a native of Palm Harbor, Fla., is a senior at Palm Harbor High School. She has earned team most valuable player honors four straight years and garnered first team all-conference honors in Pinellas County as a junior after placing third in the district. The honor roll and dean's list member claimed first place in the district as a sophomore.
Wendt, a native of Houston, Texas, graduated a year ago from Memorial High School and currently attends the International Junior Golf Academy in Hilton Head, S.C. The post-graduate student has claimed two victories on the International Junior Golf Tour this season finishing first at the IJGT at ChampionsGate in Orlando, Fla., and at the Legacy Golf Club in Bradenton, Fla. She also recorded top three finishes at Chateau Elan (3rd) and Savannah Harbour (2nd).
The Lady Paladins open their spring schedule March 9-11, at UCF in Orlando, Fla.
