Athens, Ga. -- Freshman Jaclyn Hilea shot a three-over-par 75 to help Furman post a final round 312 and finish in 14th place at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic Sunday afternoon at the University of Georgia Golf Course.
Hilea (83-78-75=236) carded three birdies in third round action and played her final seven holes at one-under-par to finish with a share of 43rd place. Fellow freshman Stefanie Kenoyer (75-81-77=233) notched a five-over 77 on Sunday to lead the Paladins with a 33rd place showing.
The host Georgia Bulldogs (302-300-298=900) edged Purdue (302-303-295=900) in a playoff to claim their 13th Liz Murphey title. Alabama finished third while Arkansas grabbed fourth and Kent State tied top-ranked Duke for fifth place.
Furman (318-314-312=944) improved its team score in each round of the 54-hole event to finish in 14th just two strokes behind South Carolina and four strokes behind Florida State. The Paladins finished five strokes better than 25th-ranked Texas A&M and 12 strokes ahead of No. 19 Vanderbilt.
Purdue's Christel Boeljon (74-75-69=218) and Maria Hernandez (76-74-68=218) rallied past third place finisher Amanda Blumenherst (74-72-74=220) of Duke to tie for individual honors.
