Paladins Fire 299 On Day Two Of UCF Challenge

Sorrento, Fla. -- Stefanie Kenoyer posted a one-under-par 71 and Blair Lamb carded a second round 73 as Furman (306-299=605) improved by seven strokes as a team on day two of the UCF Challenge at the 6,356-yard RedTail Golf Club on Monday afternoon.

Kenoyer (75-71=146) eagled the par five No. 12 hole and played the back nine at two-under-par to move into a tie for 36th place after two rounds. Lamb (72-73=145), a junior from Flat Rock, N.C., followed an even-par opening round with a 73 on Monday to grab a share of 21st place.

Duke's Alison Whitaker (65-71=136) maintained her hold on first place with a one-under 71 and helped the Blue Devils (282-282=564) take the team lead with their second consecutive round of 282. Purdue (289-283=572) shot 283 on Monday to move into second while Southern Cal (281-294=575) slipped to third place tie with Florida (292-283=575) following a second round 294.

Whitaker's teammate Amanda Blumenhurst (69-68=137) climbed to second place with a four-under 68 while Junthima Gulyanamitta (72-66=138) posted the low round of the day to grab third place.

The teams in the Challenge, which include 15 of the country's top 25 teams and 19 of the top 25 individuals, have combined to win 11 national championships. The medalist from the 2008 UCF Challenge will receive a sponsor's exemption into the LPGA's Ginn Tribute Hosted By ANNIKA (May 26-June 1, 2008).
