Furman Hosts Davidson in Final Home Game

GREENVILLE, S.C. - The Lady Paladin basketball team will host the Davidson Wildcats in their last home game of the 2007-08 season. Tonight will also be senior night, with Furman honoring seniors Adrienne Gilmore and Chrissy Phelps for their contributions to the Paladin women's basketball program.

Furman leads the overall series against Davidson 24-18. Earlier this season, junior Mercedes Robinson recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds to lift Davidson to a 74-59 win over Furman.

The Lady Paladins are coming off a 93-84 loss in double overtime to second-ranked Western Carolina. Five Western Carolina players scored in double digits and the Lady Catamounts outscored Furamn 16-7 in the second overtime period to win the SoCon thriller. The Lady Paladins went on a 19-7 run in the last seven minutes of regulation to tie the score at 67, forcing the game into overtime. Sophomore Lee Stephens led Furman with 20 total points, while Chrissy Phelps and Melissa Liebschwager added 18 each and junior Katie Johnson set a new career high of 12 rebounds.

The Wildcats are coming off an overtime win of their own, with a 84-76 victory over Wofford. Davidson is currently 17-9 on the season and 11-4 in the Southern Conference. Mercedes Robinson leads the team, averaging 12.3 points per game.

The game will be played in Timmons Arena with an approximate tip-off time of 7:00 p.m. The game will also be broadcast via Stretch Internet, available at www.furmanpaladins.com.
