Furman Falls to Phoenix

ELON, N.C. - Kitara McMoore led two players in double-digit points as the Elon Phoenix defeated the Paladins 66-44 in Southern Conference basketball action Thursday night.

The Phoenix controlled the game from the beginning, jumping to an early 11-3 lead in the first five minutes. Furman earned its only lead of the half at the eight minute mark, taking a 21-20 lead, but Elon responded and headed into the break with a 30-27 lead.

Elon continued to score in the second half, leading by as many as 28 points en route to a 66-44 victory over the Paladins.

The Phoenix were led by McMoore's 17 points, while Nicole Allison added 14, shooting 4-4 from beyond the arc. Sophomore Amber Wall recorded a career high 17 rebounds in the winning effort.

Junior Katie Johnson led the Paladins with 10 points and 7 rebounds, while sophomore Lee Stephens added eight total points.

With the win, Elon improves to 10-19 on the season and 5-12 in the Southern Conference, while Furman falls to 9-19 and 4-13 in league play. The Paladins will play their final regular season game Saturday against UNC Greensboro.
