Senior Ben Goforth (74-70-72=216) led three Paladins at two-over-par 72 as Furman carded a final round 290 to finish sixth at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at the 6,565-yard Palmetto Golf Club.
Goforth finished at six-over-par to claim sixth place in the three-round tournament as Furman (304-300-290=894) posted the third best round of the day to improve to sixth. Freshman Austin Reeves (80-76-72=228) and Matt Hayes (76-81-72=229) also capped their rounds firing two-over-par 72. Easley, S.C., native Jonathan Bowden (74-76-74=224) took 25th place at 14-over.
Chattanooga (289-279-282=850) cruised to a 30-stroke victory over second place Virginia Tech (297-287-296=880). USC Aiken, Penn State and Elon rounded out the top five. The Mocs' Jonathan Hodge (72-73-67=212) rallied with a three-under-par 67 on Tuesday to take individual honors by one stroke over teammate Fredrik Qvicker (70-75-68=212) and Virginia Tech's Jurrian vander Vaart (71-70-72=212).
The Paladins return home to host the Furman Intercollegiate March 28-30, at the Furman University Golf Course.
