Aiken, S.C. -- Senior Ben Goforth (74-70=144) carded a second round even-par 70 to earn a share of sixth place and help Furman move into seventh after two rounds at the Cleveland Golf Palmetto Intercollegiate Monday at the 6,565-yard Palmetto Golf Club.
Furman (304-300=604) rebounded from a first round 34 to gain four spots with a second round 300 on the par 70 layout. Jonathan Bowden (74-76=150) and Austin Reeves (80-76=156) each posted rounds of six-over 70 to grab 26th and 50th place, respectively.
Southern Conference rival Chattanooga (289-279=568) enters the final round with a 16-stroke edge on second place Virginia Tech (297-287=584) and 24-stroke advantage on third place USC Aiken (301-291=592). The Mocs' J.T. Clendenin (72-69=141) and Virginia Tech's Jurrian vander Vaart (71-70=141) are tied for the individual lead at one-over-par.
The final round of the 54-hole event is slated for Tuesday morning.
