CHARLESTON, S.C. -
The Furman men's and women's track teams began the outdoor track season on Saturday by participating in the Charleston Southern Invitational.
The women boasted two first-place finishes, from senior Page Bridges, who recorded a time of 12:16.32 in the 3,000 meter steeplechase, and freshman Monique Ositelu, who recorded a time of 2:25.40 in the 800 meter run.
Additionally, all of the women's track and field athletes finished in the top ten in their respective events, including eight top five finishes.
For the men, juniors Patrick Morgan and Alex Plasencia finished first in their individual events. Morgan recorded a time of 4:06.90 in the 1,500 meter run, while Plasencia posted a 15:25.88 mark in the 5,000 meter run. The men's team also posted solid performances all the way around, racking up four top-five finishes.
Both track teams will continue outdoor competition on March 22 at the Emory Invitational.
