Composed of 115 members, "The Paladin Regiment", under the direction of Jay Bocook and Les Hicken, is again set to entertain audiences this fall with an eclectic array of musical styles performed at the highest level of visual and aural excitement.
The Paladin Regiment has established an outstanding reputation in the Southeast for its dynamic sound and precision marching. On the road this season, the Marching Band will entertain audiences at the Clemson game in Clemson, SC, and will appear as the exhibition band at the Cobb County Marching Band Festival in Atlanta, GA. Throughout the long history of the Marching Band, its performances have resulted in standing invitations for return engagements at venues all across the east coast.
This season, the Paladin Regiment will present its Exhibition Show as a tribute to the music from past and present hit movies. This year's program features Prof. Bocook's arrangements of the themes from Shaft, Ghostbusters, Peter Gunn, and The Incredibles. Future performances will feature a patriotic show saluting our Armed Forces.
At the conclusion of the football season, the Furman Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will resume rehearsals. The Symphonic Band is one of the oldest organized bands in the South, having been initiated in 1920. This season, the Wind Ensemble will perform at Carnegie Hall in New York City at the New York Wind Band Festival and will welcome acclaimed composer Frank Ticheli as our guest conductor for our April concert.
